Our Therapy Sessions are Focused on You
I’m here to create a space for you to be your authentic self without fear of judgement.
I understand that opening up and being vulnerable can be difficult, so I’ve made it my mission to create a safe and comfortable environment for you. During our initial sessions, we’ll focus on learning more about your unique situation and history through a holistic approach that takes into account your biological, psychological, social, sexual, and spiritual needs.
As we move forward together, I’ll be with you every step of the way to help you break down any barriers that might arise during our time together.
To treat you as the individual you are, I apply various techniques in sessions that include mindfulness, visual tools, practice exercises, and even helpful handouts to guide you outside of our sessions. I want to be your companion on this journey toward creating a new story for yourself. So, let’s start creating a brighter future together!
My Therapy Approach
As a mental health therapist, I want you to know that our work together is a collaborative effort. My approach is all about putting you at the center of the process. Together, we’ll use a variety of different techniques to get to the heart of what you need.
I believe in the power of talk therapy, and we’ll have plenty of chances to dive deep and explore your experiences together. Alongside that, we’ll also make use of some different methods.
Some therapies I incorporate into our sessions are:
We’ll find the techniques that work best for you.
I also specialize in the Harm Reduction Model for Substance Use. If this is something that’s impacting your life, I want you to know that we can work together to find a way forward.
At the heart of all of this is the belief that you are the expert in your own life. I see myself as your partner in this journey, here to listen, support, and guide you.
Together, we can create a plan that feels empowering and effective.
My Professional Background
During my time at NC State, I was chosen for the Opioid Work Force Expansion Program (OWEP), which gave me an opportunity to get hands-on training in community-based opioid and other substance use disorders. Since then, I’ve had a plethora of experiences in the field.
I worked as a Community Alternative Program Case Manager for medically fragile children and also gained experience in working with children and adults with autism. I’ve been a Direct Support Professional for a special needs child, volunteered with an anti-human trafficking nonprofit, and interned in assisting adults who identify as disabled.
One of the things that sets me apart is my deep understanding of how it feels to navigate through an able-bodied society while dealing with chronic illness. My husband and son have a genetic condition that has led us to understand how crucial integrative treatment focusing on the person is, rather than just treating the symptoms.
Overall, I’m here to support you and guide you toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life, so let’s work together toward that goal!
