Do you accept insurance for therapy?

Currently, Renewed Wellness Counseling is in network with the following insurances:

  • Medcost
  • United Health/Optum
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • VA Community Care
  • Medicare
  • We are a Tricare Certified Provider**
  • Health Savings Accounts

Please note that individual providers in-network status with specific insurances may vary. Each therapists webpage lists their in-network insurances.

If we are out of network with your health care plan, we will be glad to help you with billing and provide you with a “Superbill” to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

**We are Certified Out of Network with Tricare. This means that if you have Tricare Prime, we require a referral from your PCM. Once a referral is authorized, we are considered as in network. This is something we can assist with or provide further instructions for. If you have Tricare Select, no referral is needed.

How do I know exactly what my health plan covers?

Typically, we verify benefits as a courtesy prior to your first therapy appointment. However, it is exactly that — a courtesy. There is no way to absolutely, with total certainty, determine what is covered under an insurance plan until an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is processed by your insurance company. We encourage you to call your insurance company as well, so you are informed.
Questions to ask include:

  • Does my specific plan cover virtual appointments for mental health?
  • Am I required to use a specific platform for mental health?
  • What is my deductible, co-pay, and/or cost share?
  • Do I need a referral?
  • Do I need pre-authorization for services?

Renewed Wellness Counseling cannot legally waive any co-payment, co-insurance, deductible, and/or pre-authorization requirements.

Do I have to use my Insurance?

No, you do not have to use your insurance. One of the benefits of self-pay counseling is that a diagnosis code is not required. In order for insurance to cover therapy, they require a diagnosis. Some people seek counseling for minor life issues and do not necessarily have a diagnosis. Others prefer to defer this diagnosis so that it does not interfere with other areas of their life. You and your counselor can talk more if you have any questions about this. Your comfort is most important to me.

Cancellation Policy

We are unable to bill your insurance for any late cancellations (within 24 hours) or missed appointments. To maximize the benefits of therapy and out of respect for our therapists’ time, Renewed Wellness Counseling maintains a 24 hour cancellation policy.

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand to avoid a $75 late cancellation/no show fee.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Renewed Wellness Counseling accepts major credit cards and HSA’s. You can pay conveniently through your Client Portal. Payment for any co-pays or co-insurance is due at the time of service and will be charged to the card on file.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers and health care facilities must inform individuals who are not enrolled in an insurance plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost prior to service. Health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For this reason, please make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
